Founder and New York native, Elizabeth Suda, wanted to answer a simple question: “how and by whom are the goods we consume made?” After two years in the Merchandising Department at Coach, she packed her bags and traveled to Laos on a mission to understand how local, sustainable crafts made by women could be plugged into the global fashion market. She founded ARTICLE22 when she met a rural community melting US bombs into spoons and was joined by Camille Hautefort to grow the Peacebomb jewelry collection into company symbolizing positive transformation and building a community in 40 countries.
Chloe Dao is an American fashion designer based in Houston, Texas. Chloe was born in Pakse, Laos to an ethnic Vietnamese family. Due to the war, Chloe's parents fled to a refugee camp in Thailand to escape the conflict. The family, including Dao, her parents and seven sisters, emigrated to the United States in 1979. Growing up she redesigned vintage clothes; her first original was her senior prom dress. Her clothes have been featured in Lucky magazine as well as in a variety of Texas publications, including the Houston Chronicle, Elle, Harper Bazaar Magazine, and Texas Monthly. Chloe will be featured together with other designers in our #LaoNow runway show and will donate a coat and its matching dress to our live auction! Look at her beautiful pieces and start bidding! This won't last long!

Dressed with a retrospective of looks from the subcultures of Laos, #LaoNow offers a curated evening of food, fashion, and art. Highlighted with internationally recognized speakers, the expansive venue at Wallace Hall on the Upper East Side of Manhattan will be anchored by a contemporary runway show from fashion entrepreneurs Monica Phromsavanh & Elizabeth Suda.
